Celebrating the Women of Kings Camp

By Kings Camp Team on August 27, 2024

Raising a toast to the dedicated members of our team this Women's Month

At Kings Camp, we owe our success to the hard work, dedication, and passion of the incredible women who bring the lodge to life. From our management team to our talented spa therapists, housekeeping staff, and beyond, these women ensure that every guest’s experience is nothing short of magical. In celebration of Women’s Month, we take a moment to honour their invaluable contributions to the Kings Camp experience.

Leadership and Management

Our management team plays a crucial role in the seamless operation of the lodge, guiding the team with unwavering commitment and a personal touch. Their leadership ensures that every aspect of Kings Camp, from guest relations to behind-the-scenes operations, runs smoothly and efficiently. The dynamic and dedicated Lisha Moore co-manages the lodge and has been with us since 1995. Hayley Cooper joined our team in 2014 as our Assistant General Manager and is a certified vegan hospitality consultant.

Housekeeping

The housekeeping team at Kings Camp is known for their meticulous attention to detail and the warm, welcoming atmosphere they create. Each suite is cared for with the utmost precision, ensuring that every guest feels right at home. Their dedication is the backbone of the lodge, keeping everything in perfect order. Mirriam Mkhatshwa is not only our head of housekeeping but also the “Mamma” of the lodge; she has been with us since 1996 and exudes a warm, motherly presence to all those she meets. Pinky Marimane joined the Kings Camp team in 2000 as a housekeeper, and is now gaining experience in stock-taking, placing orders, and inputting invoices into the office system.

Spa and Wellness

Our spa therapists provide a range of services that allow guests to unwind and rejuvenate during their stay. These professionals are passionate about wellness and bring a sense of tranquillity to the lodge. Whether it’s a soothing massage or a refreshing facial, their expertise ensures that each guest leaves feeling relaxed and revitalized. Patricia Mokoena is both our Villa Manager and a spa therapist, and Mfundo forms part of the Front Office and is a spa therapist. Both of their roles are wonderfully diverse, and they both grew up just outside the reserve.

Guest Relations and Administration

The guest relations and administrative team are often the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring that every aspect of their stay is enjoyable and stress-free. From managing bookings to handling inquiries, their efficiency and friendliness are key to creating a positive first impression.

Kitchen and Culinary Support

Behind every delicious meal at Kings Camp is a team dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. Their hard work allows our culinary team to focus on preparing exceptional dishes, contributing to the overall guest experience. Eva, one of our scullers, joined the team in 2018, and has since been dedicated to keeping the kitchen spotless and ensuring that all the dishes are cleaned daily.

Ongoing Learning and Development

What sets the women of Kings Camp apart is their dedication to continuous learning and personal growth. Whether expanding their skill sets within their roles or taking on new responsibilities, they are always striving to improve and advance. This commitment not only benefits their professional development but also enhances the overall quality of service at Kings Camp.

Join us this Women’s Month in celebrating the remarkable women who make Kings Camp a truly special place. Their passion, hard work, and dedication are at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that every guest leaves with unforgettable memories. Here’s to the incredible women of Kings Camp—thank you for all that you do!
